COO

Software Engineer (w/m/d)

Hanover/Remote

We are looking for a versatile Software Engineer as an addition to our tech team.

What to expect.

Our Wingfield Box runs software written in C++ that records and analyzes gameplay (neural networks and such...). The touchscreen interface through which players interact with the box is an Electron app implemented with React. The backend is implemented in Express, i.e., Node.js. Here we have also decided to use TypeScript. You see: frontend technologies run through our entire stack. But don't worry; we don't expect you to know everything! As soon as you have settled in, you will directly influence decisions about the technologies used and the architecture of our system. Your tasks would mainly be:

  • The continued development of our React Native app

  • Working on internal UIs written in React

  • Adjustments of the backend

We work in a sprint-oriented way. Currently, we manage well with two “dailies“ per week. Most Sprints last two weeks, followed by a review and a retrospective.

About you.

  • A developer with 2+ years of experience - preferably in the tech or sports tech sector.

  • You can work independently on new problems and present your results in a structured way.

  • You are fluent in English (at least B2 level). If an open-source library causes problems, you should be comfortable asking its international community for help.

  • Dependency conflicts should not be a challenge for you because, especially with React Native, they will occur from time to time.

  • xperience with JavaScript (ES6), a modern frontend framework like React, and understanding the interaction between frontend and backend would make it easier for you to get started.

What we offer you.

  • Flexible working hours and a remote-friendly working environment.

  • Individual training and long-term support for your personal development.

  • Working in a young and ambitious team.

  • Regular team events and joint sports sessions - for example, on the tennis court next to our office.

  • Flat hierarchies with short decision-making processes and room for your own ideas.

  • Office poodle “Winnie” is looking forward to meeting you, in case you have had a bad day.

About us.

Wingfield was founded in 2017 with the mission to unleash the power of tennis through innovative technology in all its facets. In doing so, we create outstanding user experiences that move tennis forward sustainably. Wingfield banishes frustration from training, automates official competition formats, and makes them available on-demand, making it easier for people to access our fantastic sport.

Greetings from the Tech Team.

Since we’re not a huge tech team, you can expect to significantly impact our product development from day 1. We are all curious and love solving challenging problems. We are always helping each other with our topics, but at the same time, there is no one who chews our work. This means that how we implement a particular feature is entirely up to our creativity.

What the application process looks like.

Do you want to actively shape the future of our sport? Then join us on our mission! This is how our journey together could continue:

  • Apply here on the website and write us a few sentences about yourself and the projects you’ve already worked on

  • We’ll talk about technical aspects in a Zoom Call and get to know each other better

  • Congratulations, we chose you! Welcome to the team! 🎉

We are looking forward to meeting you! 💚
